New Country Inn & Suites Hotel

$53 Million Dollars are being spent on developing the City of Pecos including a ten million dollar project right next to the golf course.

Groundbreaking on the site will take place Friday August 8th at 10 o’clock am.

Robert Tobias of the Pecos Economic Development Corporation is working with Reeves County and private investors on the project.

“It really begins to make this more of a destination center”.

He’s talking specifically about the new Country Inn & Suites Hotel, “1st and 10 Sports Bar” and four-restaurant food court that will be practically on top of the local golf course. Pecos resident and businessman Leo Hung will own the property. Hung and Bobby Bhakta will own the hotel together. The 1st and Ten Sports Bar and Grill will be built by local businessman Steve Valenzuela and the food court will also be owned by Mr. Hung.

"We are trying to build some amenities for this community and... so the people can enjoy and so at the same time we also build up tourism", said Hung.

Named “Paradise Plaza” the site should create more than 75 jobs. The total project should be completed within three years and the hotel is expected to open by September 2009.

"For someone to be able to sit at the sports bar... or the food court and be able to seed the golf course... you know... it is that... you feel like you're in a quality environment", said Tobias.

It will be an environment that will provide entertainment and benfit Pecos financially as well. The hotel, food court and sports bar are considered Phase 1. Phase 2 will include an entertainment facility with games and activities and may even include another hotel. In any case, Tobias says it will benefit the city.

"The property tax impact... the sales tax impact... hotel occupancy tax impacts".
